Hey I'm here for 'some' updates on my day, so here goes~
(disclaimer: the post you're gonna read is long.)

Today I've been rather busy, which is really weird because the past 3 days, I was slacking my time off in the office. But not today, because my supervisor actually called me for the research data, and yes I did do research, so had a fair amount of data I suppose.

And next after that, I was handed with a bind-ed book, or rather PowerPoint notes, and was told to turn the hard copy into soft copy, yeah you've got it, practically meaning typing all the words into the computer. But its OK, now I do enjoy the work, at least better than wasting time isn't it? Something meaningful actually, so ya, I don't mind.

Next up, before I do the typing, I had to attend to the task the binds me (even more than the original task of the China Website), and that is the questionnaire survey (which I had already done 2 wk ago) so to bring you through what I have/need to do for this task:

    - handed with a whole stack of survey and told to enter into excel file
    - put the contact details into thank you letters
    - print them.
    - fold them and slot into envelopes
    - sort the excel data according to countries
    - email different country files to respective countries for them to update. (deadline for them to send back : 04/07/07)

the above I had already done by last week.

and so the deadline was yesterday and 8 didn't reply, so today I had to chase them all to send back the files. And so my task for today is to send them a notice email, and then call them up. Only around 2 countries replied and sent it back. Total number of countries: 10, meaning I'll have to call 8.

After that some started to reply through email, so ended up I had to call 4. Australia, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan. And did I tell you that I don't speak on phone often, and I can't speak with people I don't know some more its foreigners!. So ya! Was very very nervous, and still had to type my "script" in MS Word. =x

And calling the overseas countries, I have to call to their reception, talk to the receptionist and then transfer to the person in charge. So ya, means talking to more people..

Calling Singapore sure is easy, because their office is in the same building, HA ! no reception needed, so don't feel that strange. Then Taiwan, a little uneasy because I've NEVER called overseas before, so called and they speak Chinese, kinda startled because I expected a universal language. Then Suddenly from English to Mandarin and I was so not used to it. Only the 2nd time I called them again then prepared for Chinese =).

Then Australia, I called a total of 4 times, 1st 3 times I only talked to operator because the person in charge not in (and by the way they keep gimme listen music.... *hold*) until the last time I decided to call another person whose is the assistant.

Korea's the most troublesome, after the Taiwan call, I expected straightaway that Korea = answer phone calls with Korean language, and true enough, I called and "ANYONHASEYO" and a whole chunk of somewhat alienated language to me... so I had to go "err... good afternoon, I'm from Singapore...", and (this reminds me of something! calling to Aus and Korea, got lags! have to wait 3 secs then they hear you and reply) so I had to wait awhile before he actually go "Oh!" and then talk to me in English, which, no offence but, I seriously can't understand much.

And finally its a relieve, but I find it great actually, because it's an exposure for me to other people from other parts of the world. And really after awhile, I speak much more fluently and able to communicate better. Which indeed, benefits me.

I don't know how to express this feeling, but this is a feeling of someone who dares not speak to other people through the phone. A few of you know this about me. Alright, I'm gonna sort my data out and after that continue with my PowerPoint slides =).

    Take care, Tata~!
